On the whole this it's a quick and easy read, but several mistakes lead me to wonder if I was reading historical fact or convenient fiction. In chapter 3, the author demotes Elizabeth's half-sister, Mary, and half-brother, Edward, to step siblings; which in most uses of the terms implies a relation by marriage only. Since all of the siblings at presumably the spawn of the same father, which is the sole reason for their being in the line of succession it is distressing that a historically focused book would get such a fact wrong.Another glaring and inexcusable error occurs in chapter 7 when the author states that Elizabeth was quite healthy until 1802, but later dies in 1603. Is there anything more important to check in a history book than dates???

Queen Elizabeth I A Very Brief History eBook Mark Black Reviews
I read the book as a companion to the movies "Elizabeth The Virgin Queen" and "Elizabeth The Golden Age." All I could say is that I am quite satisfied with the broad strokes approach that the writer used to summarize the life and legacy of perhaps the greatest monarch to rule England.
You only need about 20-30 minutes to finish the book. A "very brief history" indeed!
We are 100% satisfied with the purchase. No issues and works exactly ask we envisioned. Highly recommend!!
VERY brief, almost a historical Cliff Notes. I wanted more content & context not just a listing of dates & stats for one of the more interesting historical figures. One note she had an older half-sister & a younger half-brother, these were not step-siblings unrelated by blood of either wife.
This was really an enjoyable book to read! This book with few chapters was filled with many details of the lives of Henry IIX children and their deaths and how the three children did reign. This was a very interesting book that held my interest!
Thank you so much for a great book. Am looking forward in reading more books of this kind !
Not bad for what it purports to be but the failure to have someone with a rudimentary knowledge of the English language proofread this before publishing detracts greatly from the sense that it is a high quality piece of work. One typo puts a date off by 200 years - sloppy workmanship on the production side.
As advertised, this is very brief, so you get just an outline of Elizabeth's life. The information is helpful as an introduction and may whet the reader's appetite for going deeper. The writing seems geared toward a middle school, high school level reader. The book could be more carefully edited, as there are several typographical errors and at least one variant spelling of a person's name.
As a citizen of the United States, I really don't know much at all about England's rulers. While I find the history fascinating, I also have a short attention span and busy lifestyle. This book is perfect for someone like me! Author Mark Black covers the highlights of Queen Elizabeth's life, while still managing to keep my interest. What a great overview!
