Everyone tells Colin Barnes he’s a strong man. After losing his wife Lauren to cancer, he is left to raise their young daughter, Grace, on his own. At times he wants to give up, but it just takes one look at his little girl to realize that he needs to keep going. An opportunity for a fresh start lands in his lap when his company offers him a better position in another state. Even though it means going far away from everyone he knows, his family encourages him to take the job. Colin tells Grace they will be able to get acquainted with new people, but who is he trying to convince more – his daughter, or himself? They wind up in Red Alder Valley, a peaceful suburban town located just outside of Portland, Oregon. Everything seems to be going well until the day Colin receives a call from Grace’s new school, informing him that his child is having trouble fitting in. The counselor recommends enrolling Grace in an extracurricular activity and suggests the local dance studio. Grace is willing to try, so Colin decides to sign her up for lessons. That’s when Colin is introduced to Ben Stevenson. A dance instructor and volunteer firefighter, Ben is an outgoing, good-looking, all-American kind of guy…who also happens to be gay. As Ben offers to help Grace to come out of her shell, he extends a hand to Colin in much-needed friendship. But what happens when Colin starts to develop a surprisingly strong attraction to his daughter’s charming dance teacher? Is this just idle curiosity? Or will it unearth an unpleasant incident from Colin’s past that he had buried years ago? And what will his family have to say when they find out he allows his daughter to be around someone “like that?” Please Note This book contains Adult Language & Steamy Adult Activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Approx. 65,000+ words in length. HEA (happy ever after ending). Does not end with a "cliffhanger".

The story touches one's emotions from the beginning of the book. The well developed characters made for a well told story. The moment the story became tense for me was when Colin chose to accept the job offer across the country from his family, that he did not know anyone in the new location nor how he would find child care for Grace, yet he took a big step out of the box.Ben wore so many hats, yet was so patient with Grace and Colin he made them feel cherished. A dance instructor? Just who Grace needed.

Second Chances Jerry Cole Books Reviews
This wasn't a bad story... it was just too much. Too much back story about the late wife. I felt like I was reading Jane Eyre or something and desperately wanted to get to the point. Skipped through first five chapters.
Then too much insta-love. One minute he waxing poetically about his wife and next thing jumping into sex with a man he barely knew after 20 years of living the straight life. A little unbelievable.
Too much unnecessary dialogue and description that did little to move story along.
I didn't dislike the story itself but thought it could have been told in half the pages with more development of the MC' s relationship and less talk about the dead wife at every turn.
Skipped through last four chapters also.
Would like to give it a 2.5 for the potential and Mr. Coles attempt to be sympathetic to loss of love.
But it kind of reminded me of the movie "In and out".
An enjoyable man on man romance. What is better than the gift of love?
This Author told such a wonderful love story, beautiful from start to finish! I could not put it down. A must read, you're going to love it. Many thanks, Honey Bee π π π πΆ
I always like Jerry Coles stories. This one was good, though it seemed a little long. And the ending was awkward...to me. But I enjoyed the book.
I have read books by this author before and like them. This one did not disappoint. It was a great story that made me laugh and cry. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I was a little disappointed in the ending. It was great. Don't get me wrong. I loved it, but my own personal satisfaction would have ended with the family growing. This did not take away from the story however. I give a full 5 stars and look forward to more.
A really pleasant family saga about loss, love, parenting and the famed happy ever after (and ending)! I loved the portrayal of Gracie as the loving and, often, sensible young child. This book contains a fair mixture of really sad, and very touching, scenes. The character dialogue really adds a tremendous reality to the storyline. The plot is not one great depth, rather it is one that might just occur to many people seeking fulfilment and love after loss. Recommended.
For me, this book was very sad in the beginning with the death of a loving wife & mother. But there in lies the new friends, a new job, new school for the daughter and a slow budding adult romance between the dad, the dance instructor and the daughter.... A very well developed story line, well thought out characters and a totally captivating book! I have never found any of Mr. Cole's books to be anything but a great read! I received a free advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for a honest and non-biased review. An avid reader in Rock Tavern, NY.
