Mistaken identities bring two fated souls together in this gay romance. Grounded by a hurricane, Tony passes time playing chess and flirting with "Ken", a pierced punk kid. Restless, he needs to make the quantum physics symposium in New York, where making an impression on the reclusive Dr. Ikeda could mean a post-doc research position. What are the odds? The 19-year-old physics prodigy, Dr. Kenichi Ikeda, alone out of Japan for the first time and stranded at the airport, gets hustled in a game of chess by the ingenious and handsome Tony. Coincidence and fate brings them together - but the reclusive genius is torn Should he hire the sweet and brilliant Tony because of their undeniable mutual attraction, or despite it?

Relativistic Phenomena (Audible Audio Edition) Kate Pavelle Kevin Chandler Books

Ken and Tony meet at an airport in Florida, waiting out a hurricane. Yes they were both booked to fly to NYC but with the power out and the storm blowing, they're stuck. Both men find common ground in a love of physics, a good game of chess, and an attraction to each other. Tony is older at 25, one of these hard working renaissance guys that is so down to earth. Both Tony and Ken are so wonderful on their own but together they shine. A few times the story was bogged down in details but again these are nerdy brainy young physics lovers. It's expected.

So the story gets chugging along and a nice vibe, good back and forth, waiting for the reveal and . . . Tony isn't mad. No reaction really and I was surprised there wasn't more upset and words from Ken seeking forgiveness. And when the story ended I was waiting for more. I wanted to watch Tony return back to his parents home and show up, "This is my boyfriend and yes I got the job!" It's assumed Tony was chosen (no big public announcement). I expected some interaction and fallout from the other scientists. It was a HFN and not a HEA and the ending was rather open ended with little discussed and just a hop in the sack. 3.5 and read on Kindle Unlimited. - Dan's Wife

Relativistic Phenomena (Audible Audio Edition) Kate Pavelle Kevin Chandler Books Reviews

There are as many ways to find your love as there are people in the world. And some of them don’t even know they’re looking. Just ask Tony and Ken, two solo travelers stranded by a storm on the way to New York. Turns out they don't know it, but they're really on their way to love. Kate Pavelle has taken a familiar plot and stroked it and massaged and given it a sweetly satisfying twist. At first, neither Tony nor Ken suspects that his new friend is in fact the person he is traveling to meet. As different as they can be, physics prodigy Ken and brilliant post grad Tony spend the night together in a Florida airport discovering their mutual interest in chess, physics, melting chocolate ice cream ... and other things. The food seduction scene is so hot, that ice cream would melt even if it hadn't started out that way. The only problem is, this short story reads so fast it’s over before you know it. I was left hungry for more about these two, and I hope Kate is planning to serve up further adventures.

Tony and Ken meet when their connecting flight is stranded at Miami airport while en route to New York. To pass the time, Tony and Ken play chess. They share glances, checking each other out, and flirting, and after chess they seek out something to eat, and things between them heat up a bit. Finding a remote area of the airport, they end up feeding each other melting ice cream which develops into a sexual encounter, Ken’s first.

Their conversation deepens, and they discuss their mutual interest in physics. Unbeknownst to Tony, Ken is Dr. Ideka, Tony’s idol and the man he will be attempting to secure a position with while in New York. Tony reveals to Ken his cerebral love for Dr Ikeda, but assures Ken he still has a place for romantic love. Ken, meanwhile, is taking note of and delighting in all their similarities both men hold degrees in physics, Tony earned his PhD through the GI Bill and Ken is a prodigy in the field.

Once aboard their flight to New York, they continue sharing more about themselves and make plans to see each other again, after Tony’s conference.

Relativistic Phenomena is a sweet novella, and the tentative relationship between Tony and Ken is quite endearing. My one sticking point is that in my experience, it’s virtually impossible to find anywhere quiet at an airport, let alone an airport where the planes aren’t flying, and I was quite fixated on this point. Also, a couple of times it was difficult to determine which man was doing what, to whom. Aside from that, this story is a quick, pleasant read with likable characters.
Kenichi and Anthony meet at the airport, where they're both stranded due to a hurricane. Kenichi is nineteen and having his first taste of freedom from his parents who have protected their genius son until now. Anthony has completed his doctorate in physics and is headed to a conference where he hopes for a position on a research team. As the two wait for the airport to reopen for flights, they get to know each other and their attraction to each other grows.
This was a really fun book to read. The characters were both lovable and I found myself rooting for both of them to find their HEA or at least their HFN, which the story gives. It did leave me wanting to know what happens next, which is a good thing, because it means that the characters are engaging.

I felt as if I were back in high school Physics class and not understanding a damn thing, except how gorgeous my teacher was and that he could talk Physics all day long.

Luckily, 19 year old Ken, a child prodigy who excelled in Physics and 25 year old Anthony, a former veteran who had recently completed his Ph.D, in Physics no less knew exactly what the other was talking about. Stranded in an airport due to a storm, the unlikely characters form a bound over ice cream, chess and Relativistic Phenomena. A quick hook-up was not enough for Ken to let on that he was indeed the person Anthony was trying to impress to get a job, and Anthony could not help being infatuated with the punk kid I may never get to see but once or twice. When they officially meet, it will take more than Physics to help Ken win Anthony over.

A good short read that any Physicists would enjoy with a light-hearted first time romance.
